  9. The WorldBank Collection features two series of CD-ROM's.
  10.  
  11. •Series 1 is the WorldBank Multimedia Collection on 6 CD-ROM's. It contains
  12.   over 3,000 72 dpi, 24-bit, RGB, uncompressed TIFF images,
  13.   each averaging about 1.1 MB, and all suitable for screen display, video applications
  14.   and small image printing.

  16. •Series 2 is the WorldBank High-Resolution Printable Image Collection which
  17.   is divided into two editions of 12 CD-ROM's each. Series 2 contains the 
  18.   high resolution versions of the same images found in Series 1. Edition 1 has
  19.   the first half of the images (about 1,500, countries A-H) and edition 2 has the second
  20.   half (countries H-Z). Each image in Series 2 is 32-bit, CMYK (ie. already color-separated),
  21.   color-corrected, uncompressed TIFF, 300 dpi giving a 150 line screen, with 
  22.   an average file size of 5.3 MB.

  26. •All images are uncompressed TIFF format using the universal ISO 9660 
  27.   standard for CD-ROM.

  29. •This permits any CD-ROM disc in the WorldBank Collection to be read by 
  30.   either Macintosh, MS-DOS-compatible and most UNIX machines. It also means all these 
  31.   images are also importable by almost all image-handling applications
  32.   available in those same computing environments.

  34. •Over 3,000 hard-to-find photo images from 38 countries have been compiled 
  35.   into one massive collection. All the images are annotated with a brief description and
  36.   cross-indexed by 22 general categories 
  37.   including: 
  38.   Cities, Animals, Food, People, Backgrounds & Textures, Plants, Sports, 
  39.   Ruins, Artifacts/Relics, Panoramas, Buildings, Mood Shots, World Icons
